What Does Viewlink Catx Do?...

ViewLink CATx is a KVM (Keyboard, Video and Mouse) extender which allows you to position a computer up to 300m away from the User by converting the KVM signals into a format which can be transmitted over CATx (CAT5, CAT5e, CAT6 or CAT7) twisted pair cable structures. Cables can be either discreet end to end, or existing installed premise cable can be used to transmit the signals from the source to the operator. ViewLink CATx will evaluate the cable length and then automatically set the signal gain and equalization, and (optionally) adjust the video skew to provide the best possible image. Additional fine tuning is possible by keyboard command.

There are many reasons for separating the computer (CPU) from its User console KVM. For instance, it is possible to isolate Users from hazardous industrial environments; isolate computers from areas vulnerable to theft of hardware and data; or simply to reduce noise and heat in an office environment, and maximise available desk and floor space.
